Story title should be highlighted for quickly scanning through a list

Ben Casey 12 years ago updated by Weener 9 years ago 10
Scanning through a list of stories to find one would be much easier if the "I want to" bit was bolded or otherwise stood out from the rest of the page text.
Answer
My only concern with this is that that may not be the case for everyone i.e. some people may find the user story part important too, or perhaps the so I can part.  In order to satisfy your need, I think I'd potentially be effecting other users who don't want this and have never asked for it to date.
Let me have a think about it and get back to you though.

Can the Backlog retain the previous order state?

Sanford Dickert 12 years ago updated by Matthew O'Riordan (Founder) 12 years ago 0
When I go to my Sprint page, the Backlog ticket order is determined by the order of the Themes.  Can the Backlog retain the revised order that I as the product owner have established such that my team can pluck from the backlog the next highest priority I set?
Answer
Hi Sanford

See http://easybacklog.userecho.com/topic/94379-drag-and-drop-ranking-of-backlog-independent-of-themes-eg-t1s1-t2s2-etc/

This is a feature we are considering, but is not something we have a solution for at present.  I appreciate it's a necessary feature, so we will introduce it at some point in the near future, and we have some nice ideas around how that can also be used to plan your sprints and see which stories would by default fall into which sprints.

When this is added, we'll drop you a line.

Sorry we can't be of more help right now.

As a user I would like to be able to collapse (or expand) all Theme nodes with a single click.

Gavin Kirk 12 years ago updated by Matthew O'Riordan (Founder) 12 years ago 1
I have a long list of themes and it is tedious scrolling down the list and collapsing each node one at a time.
Answer
This is now being considered for a future release and has been added to the backlog.
Thanks for the suggestion, upon reflection we believe it's a good idea but we just need to figure out how to achieve it.

Add stories (bug reports) via email?

Jason Brooks 12 years ago updated by Matthew O'Riordan (Founder) 12 years ago 0
I think that this product would be great for post implementation (and User Acceptance) bug tracking - but would be killer if could add a story to backlog by emailing it an easyBacklog address?
Answer
Hi Jason

Thanks for the feedback.  I'm not quite sure how you would envisage things working via email?  Would a story automatically be added if you emailed it in?  If so, how would you specify the fields such as what is a comment, what is an acceptance criteria, what theme to use etc?  Would be good if you explained in more depth what you were thinking.

refresh theme

Roger Stich 12 years ago updated by Matthew O'Riordan (Founder) 12 years ago 1
Hi,

not sure if you call it bug or feature ;)

Im working with multiple users in easyBacklog and encounter some problems.
There is no refresh of Data.
For example if User A changes something inside of a Theme and User B collapses that theme or even if he switched from an sprint to the backlog, the view is not up to date. So you cant change anything and get a error message, and so is in sprint view.

Looks like caching problems there problem is its disturbing the flow and the only way you see that there are changes from other users are to edit something.
If u just watch the stories to see whats probably next you didnt notice that u miss some maybe important info.
Answer
Hi Roger

We've not added realtime updates in easyBacklog, however we do show you a warning at the bottom of the page when someone else is editing at the same time.  When we introduce our digital scrum board, we will be introducing realtime updates, so we'll hopefully resolve this issue then.  However, we do not plan on completely supporting real time updates in the near future as it can be very complex, for example:
  • If a story is deleted, should we replicate the delete?  This could be confusing for users seeing stories disappear.
  • What happens if two people are editing the same story simultaneously?
  • If a story or theme is reordered, then the page will need to refresh to show the new ordering.  This can be quite confusing if you were looking at a backlog that keeps changing without your control.
I'll keep you updated when the new digital scrum board goes live as I think it will solve most of your problems as changes to stories and themes will be updated in realtime.

Edit card printing settings

Helena Biander 11 years ago updated by Matthew O'Riordan (Founder) 11 years ago 2

Is there a way to edit how the cards will be layouted? I want other fields (like number of story points) and be able to put all on one page (not a back and front side).

Answer

Unfortunately at this stage we don't offer any customisation for the cards.  We would certainly consider it if there is demand for it.  If you could explain in a bit more detail why you need it and what you want exactly, we can see if others vote this functionality up.

Thanks for the input.

I cant delete the sprint at once.

Alexey Tikhonov 12 years ago updated by Matthew O'Riordan (Founder) 12 years ago 1
I cant delete the sprint at once. When I updated the status from Completed to Incomplete I didn't see the Delete' link. It's appeared only after I return to backlog and come back to the sprint. see this http://screencast.com/t/WpIznCqd2Q
Answer
Hi Alexey

We have now fixed this bug, and written some tests to ensure it does not return.

Thanks for pointing out.

priorisation possible on story level

Geert De Cang 12 years ago updated by Matthew O'Riordan (Founder) 12 years ago 1
Would want to be able to prio stories over themes; now themes are prio'ed and then stories within a theme. But I really would decouple themes (boxes to think in - brainstorming) versus putting in planning based on BU value or other prio scheme
Answer
Hi Geert

I think this issue has already been discussed, and we've considered and discussed quite a few options already at http://easybacklog.userecho.com/topic/94379-drag-and-drop-ranking-of-backlog-independent-of-themes-eg-t1s1-t2s2-etc/

Can you confirm if you are happy with what's been discussed there as I think it will solve your problem when it goes live.

Thanks,
Matt

Start sprint when previous sprint hasn't ended.

Howie Motenko 12 years ago updated by Matthew O'Riordan (Founder) 12 years ago 0
I would like to change the print dates. When there is an abnormal termination of the sprint, I would like to start the next sprint in the middle of the current sprint.
Answer
Hi Howie

In order for easyBacklog to know how to deal with sprints starting and ending, we have had to impose a restriction ensuring sprints never overlap.  However, if you need to start a sprint sooner, you can simply set the duration of the previous sprint to something shorter.  Would that work for you?
