Manage client information

Roberto Hernández 13 years ago updated by Matthew O'Riordan (Founder) 13 years ago 0
Could be great if we can add some information about the "client", for example the web page, the contact information, etc.
Answer
Hi Roberto

Thanks for this suggestion, however we are really trying to make easyBacklog as "easy" as possible, and thus adding more options and fields complicates the user interface.  We are of course willing to consider your suggestion, but the immediate questions that come to mind are where would that information be presented?  And why is it needed in the backlog?

ability to tick off acceptance criteria

Geert De Cang 13 years ago updated by Matthew O'Riordan (Founder) 13 years ago 0
I love the idea of acceptance criteria. I love that they are put in a list.

But I would like to make clear what works and what not.
There are two options here.

Or I can tick them off in easybacklog, i.e. iso or next to the a) b) c) indication, there is a checkbox (one can even put a line through the text if checked for instance), so I see immediately what is ok and what not

An export to a test management tool suc has Testlink could also be handy :-)
But I think this would take us and you too far from the original concept, no?

Great tool by the way !
Answer
Hi Geert

Well we are in fact considering adding tasks, and it would clearly make sense to allow acceptance criteria to be imported as tasks.  See http://easybacklog.userecho.com/topic/94133-assign-a-userresource-to-a-storytask/ for some info on what we have planned.

However, I am not clear on why you want to cross of the acceptance criteria.  Is this for someone who is doing the tests on the story and will approve a story as complete?  I think this kind of action is more to do with sprint and scrum management, so would probably be more applicable when in sprint management mode i.e. before you mark it as complete, you can perhaps tick off acceptance criteria (just for reference) to say those criteria have been passed. We will give this some thought, but not sure yet if this is something we really need as easyBacklog is not really a testing tool, it's a backlog management tool.

In terms of exporting to Testlink, we are in fact working on expanding the export feature to support Gherkin, JIRA and some other simple formats.  What format does Testlink follow?

crash while generating snapshot

Roger Stich 12 years ago updated by Matthew O'Riordan (Founder) 12 years ago 1

in the following backlog ...accounts/250/backlogs/10618

when i try to create an manual snapshot, easybacklog crashes and creates a new backlog with the name i give to the snapshot.

The snapshot itself will not be created just a duplicate backlog.

Since i created a snapshot through completing an sprint, i have no longer any problems to create an manual snapshot.

Seems to be a problem with manual creating as long as no other snapshot exists.

Answer

Hi Roger

We have now both improved the performance of creating snapshots, and also pushed this into a background queue so that it does not time out.  When you create a snapshot now, it will be created a few seconds later by the queue, and your browser will respond immediately with confirmation of the queue being processed.

Please shout if you see this issue again.

moving stories between backlogs

Prerna Singh 12 years ago updated by Matthew O'Riordan (Founder) 12 years ago 0
how can i move stories between my many backlogs?
Answer
You can move themes between backlogs by simply clicking on the actions icon (looks like a spanner) below the theme, and selecting Move to another theme.  At present, we don't support moving stories, only themes.  You can of course simply move the stories you wish to move into a new theme and move that way.  Please do confirm if that is what you need?

plus button only visible with full access

Roger Stich 13 years ago updated by Matthew O'Riordan (Founder) 13 years ago 0
Hi,

the plus button to collapse a theme is only visible with full access to an backlog.
Since this is just a helper for easier reading and nothing which will be saved anywhere, this button should be always available if im able to open the backlog.
Answer
Hi Roger

We have now fixed this bug, and written some tests to ensure it never returns, thanks for pointing it out.

It's something we plan on implementing, but unfortunately most of our users really do like the rigid approach we have taken.

This will help users who are new to Scrum.

That's a great idea, we will make that happen shortly.

filter stories without storiepoints

Roger Stich 13 years ago updated by Matthew O'Riordan (Founder) 13 years ago 3
Hello,

as a Product Owner who has to handle a big Backlog i want to find the Stories where i have to do a grooming for.

My Situation is that i get new stories infrequently, currently i have around 70 Stories (without accepted stories) in my backlog.
Now i have to find out which stories are without Storiepoints, print them and then i can start a backlog grooming with my team.

So i need 3 things:
- filter for the stories without storiepoints
- the possibilitie to print Userstories for the current selected filter criteria
- print a single userstorie directly without assigning it to an dummy sprint

What do you think?
Answer
Hi Roger

Thanks for the feedback.

I can understand your need for better filtering, in fact we are thinking about improving the whole filtering process completely as it's just not good enough as it stands.  We are thinking about having a filter dialog that appears (if you click Filter or press Ctrl-F), that allows you to be more flexible in your filtering by specifying amongst other things keywords, stories without points, stories not assigned to sprints, etc.  Do you think something like that would be useful?

In terms of your other suggestions, printing a single story or printing all stories by the currently selected filter are both good ideas.  We'll add that to our backlog.

archivate sprints

Roger Stich 13 years ago updated by Matthew O'Riordan (Founder) 13 years ago 7
Hi,

As a Product Owner
i want to mange many the actual and future sprints
to be able to manage development of an long running software product.

i need soekind of visual marker for the actual in progress sprint.
And i want to archivate completed sprints (no direct access through tabbing or at least hiding of that sprints).

Currently i have 10 Sprints in my Backlog and there will be many more.
I need to manage my overview to clearly identify the current sprint and since there will be many more sprints i want to hide the completed sprints to make focusing on actual development easier.

Answer
Hi Roger

Can you take a look at the site now as we have implemented a marker for the current sprint.  We tried a few variations, but ended up with this option as we think it's clear which sprint is current (white text with shadow), and clearly all sprints before are complete, and all after are not.

Can you tell me what you think?
