As a user I would like to add attachements to stories in order to have all the information necessary to complete a story

Each story should allow attachments to be added to it.

This would allow us to ensure our wireframes and designs as well as final design assets are up to date and with the story when a developer takes on the work

Solution

Thanks for the suggestion.  This is something we have considered, but have not pushed this feature through yet as because we are not charging our customers, the storage costs could become problematic for us.  When we find a solution, we'll update this ticket though.

Thanks again, and in the mean time could you not link to your attachments on a 3rd party service from the comments fields?

As a user I want a bulk upload facility so that I can import user stories from a spreadsheet

I have initially captured user stories in an excel spreadsheet. I want to be able to upload them rather than enter them one by one which is onerous.
Solution
Unfortunately we are not going to build an import feature any time soon as it is very complex.  We would either need to build a fixed template you need to use in Excel, but then that kind of negates the usefulness of it as you'd need to repurpose your backlog into a suitable format.  Or we would need to build an extremely flexible import system with lots of functionality to deal with exceptions and missing / bad data, and we only seem to find people need this type of functionality once.

We built easyBacklog so that it's as fast to use as Excel when managing your backlog.  Most of our users now use easyBacklog to build and maintain their backlogs and no longer rely on Excel.  We highly recommend you use that approach moving forwards.

I am sorry we can't help right now, but we've thought about this a lot, and we just don't think there's an easy solution.

BTW. We are opening up an API soon however, so you can add and maintain your backlogs programatically...

Most of our projects use german as project language, but some projects are handled in english.

Therefore we have backlogs where we would like to write the user stories in german and in others in english. Currently this is not possible, since all user stories for us are using the template 'Als .... möchte ich .... um ...'.

Solution

This feature is now implemented.

You can now select your locale at an account level, a company level or at an individual level.  You will find this in your backlog settings, and will be asked which locale you want to use when creating a backlog.

Please shout if you experience any problems.

Is it possible to change the template of the user story, deleting "can" of "so I can..."?

Mike Perez il y a 11 ans mis à jour par Rob Scott il y a 10 ans 2
"As...I want to...so I can..." is not good even for the rigid scrum master...

why you don't let "As....I want...so I..." sometimes it's not about "i can something" but "i won't do anything..."
Solution
That's certainly a good point.  We'll consider amending this.

Sub (nested) themes

as a user, I'd like to be able to have themes nested within other themes, for easier sorting and prioritization.

Solution

Hi Matt

Thanks for this suggestion, however this is not something currently we have scheduled in our backlog.  If this feature is requested more often, we will certainly consider it.

share backlog more easily

Nicolas P. il y a 11 ans 0
I would like to share my backlog more easily with people involved in projects. Could you implement a way to share the backlog in read-only or with modifications allowed through a url, without account creation ?
Google drive's system is very good for that and could be a source of ideas.

Thank you

Dependencies between user stories

Sometimes functionality implemented by user story is too big to be implemented within a single sprint. In this case we would like to create two user stories and to mark a second one to be dependent on the first one. Using order of stories inside of theme partially solves this problem, but not completely. Sometimes we have story that is dependent on a couple of other stories, or dependent on story from another theme..

Solution

Hi Michael

Whilst we certainly appreciate that sometimes this occurs, we are not sure the added complexity of supporting linked stories would benefit most users most of the time.  Do you not think that simply using some naming structure would solve this rare requirement?

Move a story between themes

As a user I would like to drag and drop a single story and move it from one theme to another, so I can manage and rearrange my themes effectively.

Right now the only way to do is to retype the entire story. This feature will also be useful in conjunction with the "copy story" feature, because it allow us to use a story as a template for several themes.
Solution
Hi Michael

We have now implemented drag and drop for stories between themes.

You can however still click on the move icon on a story and it will allow you to move it to another theme.

Thanks,
Matt

search complete backlog

Hi,

I've enjoyed the great and simple workflow of easybacklog a lot in the beginning and now my backlog has ~100 stories in several themes. If I can't remember where exactly an item was (some fit into more than one theme) then I would like to search across the whole backlog. I can search with Ctrl+F but only if all themes are uncollapsed.

This could happen as a direct filtering of the stories or as a search result popup under the search field.

Solution

Hi Daniel

We are aware of this shortcoming and have some ideas in the pipeline to improve filtering and the amount of data loaded into the interface.  Unfortunately I don't think we'll implement this feature in the coming weeks, but we do have it in our backlog.  Sorry I can't be more responsive than that at present.

Thanks,
Matt
