Seperate cost from points?

Sorry, I am not entirely clear on what you want here.  Are you saying that the cost for a story is not automatically calculated based on the complexity and effort required?  If not, why not?  My major concern with offering this type of functionality to manually calculate cost is that if you did manually enter a cost (to override the automatically calculated cost), then what would happen if the points are updated (do we keep the manually entered cost or update), and how would a user know that it's manually entered as opposed to automatically calculated. 

If you could explain in a bit more detail as to why you need this, and provide an example or two, perhaps I can try and find a solution that won't negatively impact our other users.

Just following up on this request.  Can you elaborate please?

BTW. We recently launched a feature whereby cost estimation and or/day estimation can be turned off.  If you go into your backlog now, and go to Backlog settings, you will see you can turn off cost estimates by leaving this field blank, or turn off day estimates altogether.
