exporting backlogs with sprint tabs

Chris McCartney 12 years ago updated by Matthew O'Riordan (Founder) 12 years ago 4
Hi,

I've started using easybacklog properly over the past week, and like the export to excel for other people in the business. However it would be great if in addition to the whole backlog you could have multiple tabs of each sprint. The backlog export has a number of headers and blank rows meaning you can't just filter on a sprint which would be the other way of doing it.

Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris
Thanks for the good idea.  We've taken on board your suggestion and modified the export feature of easyBacklog now so that it does the following:
  • Uses Microsoft Xml Xls format for the spreadsheet allowing more complex spreadsheets to be built so that we could support this feature
  • We now create two Worksheet Tabs when you export your Backlog, the first one "Backlog Report" is very similar to what you saw before.  However, the second one "Story List" is a complete list of stories without spaces, and an Auto-filter applied  to the top header row so you can filter the stories as you wish.
I hope this is what you were after.  I think it's a nice improvement to the old Export system.
Thanks again for the feedback.

Hi Chris

Thanks for the feedback. I understand what you are after, let us have a play around and see what can be done on our aide I satisfy this need. We'll revert with some ideas after our next planning meeting.

Thanks again, hopefully we'll find an easy solution shortly.

Hi Matt,

I've been trying this feature today and it's not quite exporting right. The first tab is as before. The second tab strips out a lot of the blank cells, but it also strips out a number of the records. It looks like whichever user story is listed first in a theme is also taken out. Where only one user story is present for a theme that also goes.

Otherwise this does the job nicely,

THanks
Hi Chris

Do you mind sending me the export and ID of your backlog?  You can just email it to support at easybacklog.com.  If there is a problem we'll get it fixed ASAP.

Matt
Apologies Chris, this was indeed a bug and we have now fixed this.  Thanks for pointing out, and apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.
